The Great Outdoors

School Grounds

At Oliver's Battery Primary School we are very fortunate in having superb grounds including, ponds, copses and wilderness areas. All these offer enriching opportunities for learning and enjoyment across the curriculum and this is an essential element of our school. We all share in keeping the school in good order so that it is a place of which we can all be proud and where we can all give of our best.

From the grounds we have commanding views across Winchester including St Catherine's Hill and Winchester Cathedral.

We have an outdoor story circle, over 30 species of trees, orienteering trails and lots of scope for 'Welly Walks' and taking our learning outside.

Sunflowers

We have raised plant beds and polytunnels and each year parent volunteers help the children to grow produce and sunflowers.

Our grounds are a haven for wildlife including lizards, slow worms, green woodpeckers and a circling buzzard. As such we believe strongly in engaging children in their responsibility to care for the environment.

One of the highlights for our Year 6 pupils is the opportunity to camp in the school grounds.
