School Day

All parents/carers and children come into school when the gate opens at 8:40am. They go straight to their classrooms where they will be greeted by their class teacher.

The school day is as follows:

  • 08:45 am School day starts
  • 10:20 am - 10:40 am Morning break
  • 12:00 pm - 12:50 pm Lunchtime
  • 2:00 pm - 2:20 pm Afternoon break
  • 3.30 pm School day ends

On a Monday morning, the children usually have an assembly. This is led by our headteacher and will often have a theme for the children to think about during the school day. We might look at resilience, compassion or perseverance, for example, and how we can develop these skills and values in our own lives through stories and reflections.

On a Tuesday we have an assembly in the afternoon led by one of the teachers. This usually follows on from the theme set on a Monday. Sometimes the Christchurch School team will lead an assembly on a Tuesday morning. This is a Christian assembly. If you do not wish for your child to take part in these assemblies, please do let us know.

On a Wednesday we have a singing assembly where we practice songs we like to sing.

Thursday is an 'in class' assembly following a relevant global or national topic.

On Friday we mark the successes and moments of the week in our Celebration assembly. We congratulate children who have had a birthday, those who have been recognised for standing out in their learning or behaviour, 'top table' nominees are identified and certificates for academic achievement are handed out.

Our school is open for 32.5 hours in a typical week.

Parents will meet their children on the playground at the end of the day. Parents of children in Year R are able to walk down to the classroom to collect them.

Parents can give permission to allow a child to leave with another named adult, wait with a brother or sister in their class, wait on the playground or walk home alone.

Please fill in an End of Day Collection form to specify the end of day collection procedure for your child.
