Forest School and Edible Playground
Forest School & Edible Playground
At our school, we believe that children learn best when they are inspired, curious and connected to the world around them. Our Forest School and Edible Playground are key parts of this vision, offering rich, hands‑on experiences that build confidence, independence and a genuine love of learning.
Forest School: Learning Beyond the Classroom
Our Forest School sessions give children the chance to explore, discover and take supported risks in a natural environment. Through activities such as shelter‑building, fire‑lighting, tool use, nature study and team challenges, children develop:
- Resilience and independence
- Problem‑solving and creativity
- Collaboration and communication skills
- Emotional wellbeing and confidence outdoors
Forest School provides time to slow down, reflect and enjoy the space and freedom that nature offers. These sessions help children grow not only academically, but personally and socially—skills that stay with them for life.
Our Edible Playground: Growing, Cooking and Learning Together
We are proud to have an Edible Playground, supported by Hampshire Gardens Trust, which transforms part of our school grounds into a vibrant, productive garden where children can grow fruit, vegetables and herbs throughout the year.
The Edible Playground allows children to:
- Learn where food comes from and how it grows
- Develop healthy eating habits
- Understand sustainability and care for the environment
- Experience the joy of nurturing and harvesting their own produce
- Cook, taste and celebrate food together
Working with Hampshire Gardens Trust enriches this experience by providing expert guidance, resources and support, helping us to create a high‑quality
